Two years ago today, I woke up full of nervous excitement, as Helder (my co-founder) and I geared up to put The Nordic Web live after several months of planning. Our ambitions were high, and they remain so to this day, although they’ve greatly changed in direction in the last two years.
What The Nordic Web looked like on launch two years ago today
I’m proud of many things that The Nordic Web has achieved in its existence, yet, I think our greatest achievement of all, is the fact that I am able to write this post today.
It’s not been easy to make it to two years, with plenty of ups and downs along the way, including a brief period where we even went offline. Yet, we’ve managed to keep it going, and I can honestly say that is all down to the support our readers have shown us, willing to support us by sharing our work, offering encouragement and even financially through our membership scheme. Which if we are honest, the majority of these members are paying to support the endeavour rather than for the benefits themselves, and for this we are eternally grateful.
We’ve also been lucky to have the support of some incredible organisations who’ve deemed us worthy to partner with, so thank you to Atomico, 500 Startups, Stockholm Business Region, Nordic Innovation and Founders.
Even though we put little emphasis on traffic, it is still incredibly humbling that we get hundreds of visitors every day even when we don’t publish, and in recent times, we have even had thousands of unique visitors in a single day, something I still marvel at, for such a niche topic.
I’m immensely proud of what we have achieved in the last couple of years, but at the same time I believe we have only scratched the surface in terms of our capabilities and the impact that we can have on the Nordic startup scene, here’s to hoping the last two years pale in comparison to the next two.
Thank you again to all of our readers,
Neil S W Murray (Founding Editor)
